3 Great Videos About Honesty for Kids
Honesty, integrity, and trustworthiness are crucial qualities of a happy, healthy adult. These are things that we should be consistently modeling, but they can also be explicitly taught! Below are some great videos for starting classroom discussions about honesty and integrity. Incorporate them into your daily morning meeting or character education time, continue to model, and you’ll soon see a difference in student behavior!
THE EMPTY POT
“The Empty Pot” is a powerful story about an emperor that is looking for a young boy to train as the next emperor of China. The emperor tests the boys to see who is trustworthy.
I love this story so much that I created some extension activities for my students. My favorite is the “Seeds of Integrity” activity. We plant our own flowers, and on each petal, students write ways they can show integrity at school and at home.

HONESTY QR CODES
These QR codes link to videos that explain and demonstrate honesty, integrity, and trustworthiness for students. Students will use their devices to scan the codes, take notes (or draw pictures) about the connections they make, and then come back together as a class to discuss what they saw.
After teaching about honesty and integrity at school, I like to send home some parent communication about what we’ve learned. This parent letter explains honesty to parents, and gives them easy ways they can encourage their child to be honest and trustworthy at home.
